Here the animals are left alone. Painted in the meticulous gongbi manner on grounds of gold, in the round and fan formats of the Song album leaf, a hare and a company of squirrels sit, stand, feed and sleep — close enough to count the hairs. If Searching for Habitat asks what home we are leaving the living, these small panels simply show what is being lost.
